Hand painted scenics are extremely special and often add a gentle customized touch to a space. Heidi loves installing these delicate panels because of their inherent beauty.

de Gournay Prep
Preparing the entry to receive the Earlham scenic as seen in the photo above. This process of sandwiching 2 layers of liner paper and a layer of muslin will allow the scenic to be removed when the homeowner moves.

Tools for touch up
Sometimes scenics need a little help. In the case of the metallic de Gournay (above) Heidi was able to use pastels and eye shadow to re create clouds, this technique helps to minimize the paneling effect.
Michael Stehr Custom Painted Mural
Installation of a custom painted mural, the mural was painted onto canvas and sealed. Heidi was able to hang it just like any other wallcovering.

Mismatch on a Handpainted Scenic Panel
Most custom scenic panels are painted to fit the space. Detailed measures are done and these drawings are used by the scenic companies to paint the panels. Mismeasures, construction errors as well as the hand made beauty of these products all may contribute to an imperfect match when the finished panels arrive. Here you can see a mismatch on a newly constructed TV niche. This is not a problem, just an opportunity to get out our paint brushes!
Mismatch Solved on a Handpainted Panel
Here you can see Heidi was able to add artistic elements to match the patterns.
Fromental-Travertine
This paper was hung horizontally- if you look closely because of the amount of yardage supplied the paper had a mismatch in the left corner. Heidi added more detail work, with paint, to help the match around eye level. The right corner is the actual match.

Fromental-Graphite on Silk
When we install a scenic we always go the extra mile to make sure the plates are painted to match. Scenics are made to order and don't come with extra to cover the plates. Custom plates are a must and sometimes the most fun to install!

There was a slight blemish on the silk here so Amy painted a butterfly on the ground paper and we appliqued over it.

Award Winning-Antique Repurposed Mural
This lovely scene in greys is a family heirloom that was moved from one home to another. Some pieces had to be repaired (seen in the following photos). The designer for this project had us frame out the scenic and used smoky mirror panels across to reflect the exisitng pieces to make it feel like there was more mural than there actually was.
