In covering the switch plates we found that the rivets were getting cut off. So we removed the rivets from excess material and glued them on to match the pattern.

Natural fibers often have a paneling effect which, depending on the dye lot and material can be very noticeable. Heidi has found that she can make a dye wash from the material and paint it on across seams to minimize the paneling.

This natural material is inherently stiff and can make covering switch plates tough, here Heidi went the extra step and glued mica chips over the screws.
